If you are "foreign" and being massacred, raped or beaten by your father, brother, husband, boyfriend, uncle, the fault is all backward culture you come from, and it is right and necessary that we, the civilized people and democratic, we are in your country to bring democracy with an army of invasion, and exterminating your own people by demolishing their homes.
If you're Italian and being massacred, raped or beaten by your father, brother, husband, boyfriend, uncle, you've only had the misfortune to happen there just as it was in the grip of a mad fit of inexplicable violence and madness, one of the "rapture" in this country have an excuse not to understand the daily violence against women by relatives and acquaintances.
This way of seeing things bother me too much because in the second case is a matter that concerns me very personally.
also thinking that violence is committed against all battered women, no less than physical.
